YOUVIEW BOX ANOTHER REVOLUTION IN THE WORLD OF TELEVISION SATELLITE BROADCASTING

Next generations of set top boxes are already in the offing that was under speculation for some time now. This service would combine together Freeview channels, web-based and on-demand programs. This will see a major stir in the broadcast and tele-providing circle. The service previously known as Project Canvas has been renamed YouView.

The high end service will be accessible for the customers who may purchase the pretty expensive £200 set-top box. In the mean time, Sky too has its own version of this technology ready and up for the takes pretty soon for the customers. The terrestrial broadcasters’ BBC, ITV, Channels 4 and 5 with broadband providers such as BT and TalkTalk have presented this latest YouView service. This means a real meaty blow to the leading Sky among others.

Incidentally the makers claim YouView to be the finest of TV experiences a subscriber has had till now to this date.  This technology according to them is for the huge chunk of population that sums up to about ten millions. These are the ones who did not subscribe to paid subscription. YouView has in turn been very positively received by the Arts Council England as well as BBC. The BBC director general Mark Thompson went on board stating that this technology is a ‘holy grail’ for the public in the world of television broadcasting.
